Project Overview:

● Address the reuse of BTS effluent from property owners, resource recovery, substantial reduction in freshwater intake and wastewater discharge, and lowering the costs associated with water resource infrastructure and wastewater treatment.

● Project Planning: This project is designed to supply water for the beer brewery’s refrigeration and cooling circulating water system, boiler make-up water (pre-treated water), as well as municipal landscaping, road cleaning, fire protection, and landscape irrigation. The water quality must meet the hygienic standards for potable drinking water specified in GB5749-2006.

● Project Description: The BTS effluent is treated by a fully automated, PLC-controlled complete system that includes multi-media filters, ultrafiltration units, and RO units. The water after treatment meets the owner’s water quality standards.

Ultrafiltration device

● Core Concepts and Definitions: Ultrafiltration is a membrane separation technology driven by pressure. It uses ultrafiltration membranes with specific pore sizes (typically ranging from 1 to 100 nanometers) to sieve liquids, effectively removing suspended solids, colloids, bacteria, viruses, and macromolecular organic substances (such as proteins and polysaccharides) from water, while allowing water molecules, ions, and small-molecule substances to pass through.

● Objective: To produce high-quality reclaimed water—water that is clear and transparent, with turbidity as low as <0.1 NTU, and virtually free of bacteria and viruses—preparing it for subsequent advanced treatment processes. The next step will involve connecting to an RO system to produce even higher-quality water; ultrafiltration serves as an ideal pre-treatment safeguard.

● Protects reverse osmosis membranes: Thoroughly removes tiny colloids, particles, bacteria, and microorganisms from water, preventing them from contaminating and clogging the subsequent expensive and highly precise RO membranes, thereby significantly extending the cleaning cycle and service life of the RO membranes.

● Ensure RO feedwater quality: Stabilize the SDI (Silt Density Index) of the RO feedwater to a level below 3. This is a strict requirement for the safe operation of the RO system.

Reverse osmosis device

● Core Concepts and Definitions: Reverse osmosis is an advanced separation technology that uses pressure-driven force to perform molecular-level filtration through a semi-permeable membrane. It is currently one of the most sophisticated membrane-based liquid separation technologies available.

● Reverse osmosis: An external pressure greater than the natural osmotic pressure is applied to the concentrated solution side, forcing water molecules to reverse their flow across the semi-permeable membrane—from the concentrated solution (feed water) side toward the dilute solution side. Meanwhile, impurities such as dissolved salts, ions, organic substances, bacteria, and viruses are retained by the membrane and discharged along with the concentrated brine.

● Purpose: Complete desalination: Remove the vast majority (typically >98%) of dissolved salts and ions from water (such as Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Na⁺, Cl⁻, SO₄²⁻, etc.); remove impurities: Effectively eliminate nearly all contaminants, including bacteria, viruses, colloids, organic matter, and pigments. 4. Process location: Located after the pretreatment system (multi-media filter, ultrafiltration unit), this is the final stage in the reclaimed water treatment process.
